Lesson 3
This is a short and sweet lesson with very important details on what a qualified MLM lead (Multi-level Marketing lead) is.
It explains why you want these type of leads as opposed to the traditional cold leads you may be used to in this business. The later lessons will explain how to attract these kind of leads.
What’s a Cold Lead?
In case you need a reminder on what a cold lead is, this is the kind of lead that a conventional Network Marketer goes after when building their business. The definition of a lead is 'a potential prospect'.
You may have been directed to approach your family members, then extend your way out to close friends and then eventually on to your acquaintances such as your work colleagues, plumber, electrician, doctor etc.
As you do this, you sifting through people who trust and know you well, then you move onto colder and colder prospects.
It gets worse. Eventually most people run out of leads and you will need to find other means to track down potential prospects.
This might mean doing cold calls, which involves calling people you have never met or seen before over the phone.
This doesn’t generally mean just opening up a phone book and choosing twenty phone numbers at random.
To be a little more effective and to reduce the amount of rejection you may face, it would be ideal to target local businesses or people in retail, because they are business minded to start with and also have a sales background.
You will get some good leads doing this, however, it is very time consuming and takes a lot of energy to do so.
Wouldn’t it be a heck of a lot easier if your lead was already interested in what you have to offer?
If someone came up to you and said "Hey, I’m exploring ways to build a home based business, I’ve heard that you can purchase rights to sell products from home but I don’t know too much about it. I want to try it and I am really keen, can you please tell me where I can join up to do this?".
You would just about fall out of your chair if you came across this kind of prospect wouldn’t you?
So, just how good is a prequalified MLM lead? Before we answer that question, let’s quickly go over what a qualified MLM lead is.
What is a Qualified MLM Lead?
This is one of the best kept little secrets in the Network Marketing industry.
Qualified network marketing leads are simply prospects that come to YOU.
A qualified MLM lead can range from someone who is simply looking for a business opportunity, to a prospect who is knocking on your door asking to be signed up in your Network Marketing team!
This sounds very exciting doesn’t it? If you have network marketing experience, you may have noticed that some people climb to the top of the compensation plan very quickly. There are always two or three individuals who seem to do it.
They are recognized for their success very early on in the industry and it really makes you wonder just how they are doing it.
You are probably thinking that they are some kind of humanoid who knows how to be in the right place at the right time, pitching people on their business opportunity and products but with an extraordinary success rate.
But surely they can’t be that perfect, they can’t be that much better at talking to people than you are can they?
Well, you are right, they aren’t that much better than you. They are just very aware of what a qualified MLM lead is and know how to get them.
What’s that? You want to know how to get those type of prospects too? You will, I cover this in the next three lessons, so there is plenty of time to learn these methods yet.
But since you now know the general meaning of what a qualified MLM lead is, let’s take a look at why they are so valuable to us network marketers.
The True Value of a Qualified MLM Lead
A prospect who comes to you asking about your opportunity and what you have to offer, is far more valuable than any cold lead you will come across, ever.
The time you put in with prospecting a qualified MLM lead won’t be only a hundred times more easier, but also a hundred times more enjoyable!
Imagine growing a business like this. Countless people coming to you. You basically have to pick which ones you want to focus on and help build a team with because there are too many! Buts that’s when you can start passing your leads onto your down line so everyone is pleased :).
You would feel like a real businesswoman / businessman doing this and it will give you a huge amount of satisfaction.
It’s important you understand the actual value of a qualified MLM lead, I want you to think back to the last time you tried prospecting someone and all the chasing down you did.
It was probably a lot of effort for very little in return right? Doing this maybe got you several people to sign up in three months or even less!
Well, imagine sponsoring 30 to 50 people in three months, you will be on your way to the top in no time.
Your team members will be climbing that ladder too, because you would have trained them to attract qualified leads also! What a true win-win for everyone!
